In my regular encounters with politicians, businessmen, students, friends and fellow bloggers, I met my longtime friend from the great Ukambani. He is an upcoming leader and a man of the people especially the youth currently serving as Minister for Social Affairs & Entertainment in Mount Kenya University.
He has shown fruitful leadership skills in him and being a diehard supporter of Wiper, he could hide what he wanted for his fellow youths who support Wiper. Here is Vincent Muli alias Mbisi’s opinion on dissatisfaction with the way Wiper Party handles its youth.
“As a youth who has campaigned among the new Kenyan voters, as one who has been in the trenches in the murky college politics, engaged in convincing the new constituency of the young voters at the college level and won an election in a stiff University Students body election, I hold it to the belief that parties succession in 2017 politics will be determined by their involvement in youth affairs.
For wiper, the truth is there is NO space for the youth. There is no connection between the party leadership and the young elites, some of whom spent weeks defending its glory (if it has any), here on social media.
As a matter of fact, there’s that emerging voter constituency that were so young when WIPER was formed, and which some of us belong to. That group needs people who will present the party to them in a language that they understand.
However, there is a very big gap between the young & the old in this party. You see, we cannot think of uniting with others, until after we have first united among ourselves. We cannot think of being acceptable to others until we have first proven acceptable to ourselves.

In my understanding, a current day political party should have people whose speeches, writings and vision assuage the souls of the youths and followers of that particular party, not that which makes its followers feel alienated by the top echelons of the party.
For the record, elections in the 21st century will be about publicity, information and technology. It is only the youth who has the power and will to streamline, reinvigorate and rejuvenate the party communication machinery.
For instance, The TNA and Jubilee agenda in 2013 was driven by Johnson Sakaja and Machel Waikenda, guys born in the 80s. Everyone knows how and where that story ended. They put a sparkling show and used new publicity tools and pacified their peers in newsrooms and colleges that CORD was condemned as an ‘analogue’ outfit. This story should not be repeated.
